Inimitable and impossible to resist, Reese's is now well-known by chocolate lovers around the globe. Chocolate and peanut butter, a match made in heaven Though for years Reese's was America's best kept secret, Hershey is now helping the brand make a name for itself on the international stage. In 1963, shortly after the tragic death of its founder, Harry Burnett Reese, Reese's was acquired by The Hershey Company. But mixing it with a less expensive product like peanut butter brought it within reach of many more households, and its popularity soon took off! And the rest, my dears, is history. At the time, chocolate was still a luxury. But it wasn't until 1928 that his American dream really came true, when he developed the very first Peanut Butter Cups, which he sold for just a penny apiece. And clearly, he did just that! After (many) years of working in the dairy industry, then as an employee at Hershey, he eventually decided to start his own company, The HB Reese Candy Company, which sold all sorts of candies and chocolates.
